The Big Move

If there is one topic I have talked about non-stop it would be my big move to West LA. Since college, I have been living at home with my family in the suburbs of Los Angeles – main reason being my work is literally two minutes away and I am saving a ton of money. However, two years later the time has come for me to take the next step and move into an apartment of my own. There are many pros and cons to moving out, but I think in the end the pros outweigh the cons:

Pro
Con
Living with two of my best friends
Paying steep rent (Yikes!!)
Personal space
Sharing personal space
Starting a new chapter in my life
Have to drive a ton… I hate driving
Catch up on books I'd like to read (hear) through audio books
LA traffic
Won't have to pack for the weekends anymore!
Not seeing my brothers on a daily basis
No more Tuesday night dinners :(
No more Tuesday night dinners!
Living the city life
Commuting to work- 45 minutes MINIMUM
Will be able to make friends so much easier

Can still work at my wonderful job

This has been an event in the making for the past year and I cannot believe we are going to begin apartment hunting so soon.  In college it was easy to find a place to live and for the right price in the desert of Arizona. Senior year my three roommates and I each paid about $450.00 a month… in a HOUSE… walking distance to campus. I will be LUCKY to be paying double that for a room with two other roommates in the Santa Monica area. Being a “grown-up” in the “real world” is tough, but I’m ready to take my next step beginning in the city!

For me, one of the most exciting parts of my big move will be decorating. The title of this blog came to my two friends and I (shout out to JBL and AEL), when thinking of how I want to decorate my future room. I have been pinning like crazy the past year different ideas for my room, creating projects for my room, and buying items for the right price all centering on my “Shabby Chic” theme. I am excited to share with you all some of the projects I have done and hidden gems I have found after my extensive research each day on various websites and shopping during lunch breaks.

I am looking forward to bringing you all along on this journey with me to my big move and other adventures I encounter along the way and after it all!

Today begins the countdown till my move: 44 days

Welcome to Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak!

Welcome! Aloha! Shalom! Bienvenidos!

Welcome to Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak! Over the course of the past year I started following various blogs that have inspired me to start my own. My interest was first piqued to kill time during slow periods at work, and over time I started to see my own personal style and the way I live my life change because of the posts I read.  I have taken bits and pieces from my exploration of the blog world and made it my own thus forming: Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak.

A little background on me:

I was born and raised in Southern California and never really left until I spent the best four years of my life attending college in Tucson, Arizona (Bear down!). I have always had a passion for style, up and coming trends, the newest workouts, and new activities. How can I forget my love of food though….I can’t. I would say I am a foodie without a doubt. For the past two years I have developed new cooking skills by making a new recipe once a week (I always knew they were in my genes just never really had the opportunity to cook : ) ).

What you will see in Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak:

Throughout Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak I plan to set many goals; creating a blog being one of my goals. I like to set aspirations for myself because I love the feeling of accomplishment (kind of like crossing something off your to-do list). Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak is definitely taking me out of my comfort zone and putting myself on a platform for everyone to see, judge, and talk about. However, it is the next step I want to take in putting my opinions and thoughts out there rather than keeping them to myself and my close knit group of friends. I want to be able to be able to share my finds with others and basically give back to the blogs that have helped me develop my own sense of being after college…and given me a form of entertainment at work when necessary

Shabby Chic with a Little Tweak will be many things, but most of all I hope it gives you great ideas and inspiration for your own lives!
